The purpose of Bridal Showers
07/18/09
Bridal Showers are gift giving parties. Bridal showers have their origins in the dowry system and poor families were helped by friends and relatives in Europe to make up the dowry using gifts received at a bridal shower. Bridal showers are now given as a female alternative to the stag party in U.S. and Canada.
The maid of honor gives a party where all female friends and relatives are invited to give gifts to the bride. Some bridal showers are held a week before the wedding and others about two days before the wedding to make it convenient for guests who are attending from far away. The guest list for bridal showers is always the same as the guest list for the wedding. Bridal showers have fun infused into them by themes like a recipe shower or a lingerie shower. Bridal showers are regarded as happy preludes to a wonderful wedding day. Wedding speech
